Connor-Seger, Patricia 68, passed away of complications associated with Alzheimer's in her home in Starkville, Mississippi on June 6, 2011. Born October 31, 1942 in Highland Park, IL Patty Seger was an accomplished artist with a distinguished career of work in fine art and graphic design. She held a BA Degree from Barat College in Lake Forest, IL and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Her life pilgrimage included 16 years of service as a catholic nun with the Order of the Sacred Heart. In 1972 she created and became Director of Designhouse a graphic design studio, and in 1995 she founded its successor business NewIDEAS (New Institute for Design in Electronic Applications and Services). With Mississippi State University she was for a number of years a faculty member with the Department of Art teaching classes in Animation and Electronic Imaging. Subsequently she served as the Art Director of the Computational Design Lab at the NSF/Engineering Research Center at MSU. She authored two books and designed layouts for more than a dozen others. She specialized in Corporate Image Design and created logos for 100 and more U.S. businesses and organizations winning annual Corporate Identity awards for her work. She also designed and installed more than two dozen exhibit modules of varying scales and subjects throughout the country and abroad. Her photographs, fine art work, painted ceramics and original jewelry are widely distributed. Mrs. Seger is survived by her husband of twenty-nine years Joe Seger of Starkville; by his children Daniel J. Seger of Canton, CT, James D. Seger of Brooklyn, NY, Robert J. Seger of North Granby CT, and Kariman Pierce of Tucson, AZ; by four sisters, Mary Beth McGivern of Edwardsville, IL, Sophia Thundercloud of Ashland, OR, Kathy Schell of New York, NY, and Colleen Schwanz of Glenview, IL; and by five brothers Richard O'Connor III of Lake Oswego, OR, Nicholas O'Connor of Ashland, OR, Michael O'Connor of Quincy, IL, Kevin O'Connor of Kent, WA, and Timothy O'Connor of Notre Dame, IN. Mrs. Seger was predeceased by her parents Richard D. O'Connor II of Highwood, IL and Mary Aurelia Fletchinger of Mobile, AL Memorial services will be conducted on July 30, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Woodlands Academy Chapel 760 E. Westleigh Rd., Lake Forest, IL Her final resting place will be in St Patrick's Cemetery in Lake Forest. Condolences can be expressed on-line at http://www.welchfuneralhomesinc.com.
