OXFORD JCT. - Funeral services were held Oct 4 for Hans H. Ahrendsen, 79, Oxford Jct, at Hayden's funeral home. Burial was at Wyoming cemetery. Rev. Calvin Schumacher, Clarence, officiated.
Mr. Ahrendsen died Oct 1 at St Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness.
Born Feb.24, 1896 at Arlewatt, Germany, he was the son of Herman and Dora Winter Ahrendsen. He came to American in 1924, settling near Oxford Jct.
On Oct. 19, 1928, he married Sophie Friederichsen at Anamosa. They farmed in the Wyoming and Oxford Jct. areas all of their married life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Warren (Dorothy) Summy, Cedar Rapids; two sons, Erwin of Oxford Jct. and Donald of Ottawa, Ill; three grandchildren, and three sisters living in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
