Erwin D. Ahrendsen, age 73, of Oxford Junction died Monday, April 12, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids following a long illness.
Funeral services were 10:30 Wednesday morning, April 14, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery in Clarence. The Rev. David Mears officiated at the services.
Erwin D.Ahrendsen was born July 11, 1930 in Wyoming, the son of Hans and Sophie Fredericksen Ahrendsen. He was a farmer and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion of Oxford Junction. On October 7, 1951 he was united in marriage with Barbara Hansen at Clarence.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one son, Robert and wife, Rosalie Ahrendsen of Oxford Junction; one daughter, Ann and husband, Tony Regennitter of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Dorothy and husband Warren Summy of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Dr. Donald and Wife, Bonnie Ahrendsen of Ottawa, IL; three grandsons, Timothy Ahrendsen, Michael Ahrendsen and Matthew Regennitter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Timothy Ahrendsen, Michael Ahrendsen, Matthew Regennitter, Tony Regennitter, John Dague and Lonnie Wink.
Honorary Pallbearers were Orville Hormann, Charles Carstensen, Merlin Latare and Peter Andreou.
Chapman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
