This afternoon...Sunday the 22nd of Aug...Warlord Bobzilla/Bob Bartlett (age 50) was in an auto accident on his way back from Houston's Crooked Ferret event. He was taking 290 back to Bastrop to visit a fellow Rennie. A car came into his lane and hit him head on. Bob was killed instantly.
I was just called by Lady Scarlett/Becky and given the news. I should know more about how things happened and where he'll be laid to rest tomorrow. I'll be going to Giddings...where the accident happened to meet Becky tomorrow...and I'll post more information as I know things.
Please offer prayers to Becky and Bob's family.

Dear Brothers and Sisters

The last days of the great Zilla were filled with joy. He came all the way from San Antonio to spend a few days with me and my close family. He and Kraegan and Vultcher and many others built me a very wonderful suit of armour that I will be donning at this years inductions and fests. I will forever cherish it.

We talked of many things and of old times, but most importantly, we talked about the future. I will be touching on that some time in the days to come. Right now, I would like for all of us to muster what strength and courage we can and try to comfort Lady Scarlett and Redskull through these impossible times.

Zilla was a great Warlord, brother and close friend. He will never be forgotten.

p.s. due to work schedule and family distress, we will be unable to attend the San Antonio funeral arrangements, but we will be at the special Memorial at ferret on September 4th and the third week-end.
I have witnessed the past few days, such overpowering love and fellowship of my family, it makes me really proud.

It is hard to write words down, right now. Most of you know that Zilla spent the week-end at our home. We stayed up all night friday, laughing and talking. It is just impossible to know that he left our door and never made it home. This is just too damned hard to bare.

I have not known any other who loved to envoke laughter as much as this man. This man who had the warmest heart, the sweetest spirit, the kindest soul. He shined so brightly, almost was hard to look at him. I know he shines more brightly even now. This warrior, this man, this brother will always be greatly loved and will be so greatly missed. I cannot write more now, perhaps later.

Morri
blessings and love to Becky and all his family

Dear BobZilla,

Ohhh.. the times we've had and the tales that could be told. Arresting me because you tripped over my sword. We just talked a few weeks ago.. and though we didn't connect on the river... we both talked about getting together on the next trip. I hate that that trip will not ever happen now. I mourn for your family. I see your goofy-arsed grin all over my memories of Excalibur. You will be missed.

Dear BobZilla,

You where one of the first Chaos members I met at Excalibur when Tazz drug us there a couple of years ago. Everytime we crossed your paths you had something wonderfull to say, funny usually and a big smile on your face, and an almost twinkle in your eyes that would light up the darkness of the camp ground. You will be missed. A life cut so short once again. But then everything happens for a reason. I'm sure your charm and positive feelings where needed elsewhere to brighten a higher realm. You will be missed by many as you where loved by so many myself included. Above all you will be remembered for a long time to come. Take care and have peace.

Dear BobZilla,

The first time I met you and Becky was at Excal 2002. You and Becky welcomed me and called me family. I have so many wonderful memories and they are are filled with laughter. Even when you got your dreaded hot sauce in my eyes! Sitting around sharing cherry bombs, tubing, roaming the campgrounds, always laughter and silly jokes. I was honored to call you friend and Brother. I wish you peace along your journey and I have comfort in knowing that we will meet again. I will miss you.

Dear BobZilla,

Dear Bob; I remember the first time we met you and Becky in 2000 at Ex, little did we know that would be the beginning of a long but all too brief friendship. I think what I will miss most is you calling me a dodo head when we talk on the phone. There are so many good times that I will be able to call upon when I think of you. You were by far one of the biggest and most gentlest guys I have ever had the pleasure to call my friend. You never had a bad word to say; unless it was when you were defending one of us in your group and then you could be downright vicious but with a smile. I don't know that anyone ever saw you without that chessire grin of yours. I know I will miss it. I just want you to know that Draco and I will always be there for Becky, for what ever reason; although we could never fill your giant shoes; thats why it will take two of us. Bob, I don't know if I will make it to Table Rock due to the fact the only reason we were going was to see you and Becky. I am sure that I will see you soon my brother. Have a drink for me will ya.

Dear BobZilla,

Oh Becky, My faire friend, my body quivers and shakes, the tears run down my face. I'm hurt as you know you are more hurt. My deepest sympothy goes out to you, your son and your family. The loss is so magnanamous. Wow, I too am speachless but then again a thousand thoughts go through my head. I've known ya'll since Hawkwood. "Guido" was one of favoriate charaters of Bobs. I rememeber the day when I realized Bobzilla was Guido. I laughed my arse off. For years I new Bobzilla and for years I new Guido. I smile between the tears. Why, why, why, I ask. Then I say, Red Dragon, that's enough friends for now! Stop. God why to do keep taking our friends/family from us? I don't understand. My heart is heavy. I will miss, we will all miss Bobzilla soooooooo so so much. Oh Becky, he was a great man. You know that. We all know that. Nice man, Funny man, loveing man, caring man. I grieve for you, for him, for all of us. Oh Bob, have fun in Heaven. Tell everyone hello for us. And WE'RE NOT COMING SOON, you hear. But still, take care of your self. Give Red Dragon a hug for me. I'll miss you brother. Your sister,

Dear BobZilla,

I've been sitting here staring at the computer for hours trying to think of what to say. All the memories flood in and I cant seem to pick one that expresses my sorrow of your passing or honors you life in a way I feel is equal to what you meant to me and everyone else. I can only morn right now and try to do justice to your memory. My biggest regret is that I didn't take the time to get together since I moved to San Antonio. Once again I'm reminded that friends are very important and life should be enjoyed every day as if it will be your last time on Earth. Dear BobZilla,

From the very moment that you and I met...we were friends. We were a well-matched pair of smart alecks, that's for sure! You brought out the troublemaker in me...and no, I'm not sorry. You are one of the few people who could get away with calling me in the middle of the night just to gab...and when I told you that 5:00am was going to be ugly if I didn't get my beauty sleep you told me I already had enough-I didn't need any more or I would become too conceited...what a sweetie you were-but you still didn't let me off of the phone!!!Oh..and I'm not sorry about that either...just sorry it's not going to happen any more. The good ones always go too soon-and I miss you so already! This world will not be the same without you, brother...oh-and thanks for dancing with me at Black's and my wedding-it means even more to me now...

Never was there a lack of love, affection, respect, admiration, or best of all- mirth and humor when our hands would meet, and we embraced. You are one of less than half a hand full of people I have known personally that possesed all the qualities that are required to be known as a truly GREAT MAN. My heart grieves deeply for you- brother loved, brother lost.

Dear BobZilla,

I have sat here and read all the well wishes for Bob and Becky, the beautiful lady Scarlet how deep her pain must run now. I have cried threw every single one of these letters. What is there left to say? I am sorry that this has transpired. I have pain, much pain to know that Bob will no longer be with us on this earth walk. My heart feels like a huge hand has it in its grip and is crushing it in my chest till I can no longer breath. No longer here to play Guido, no longer here to chastise me for playing bat pox with the local constabulary, No longer here to send me on missions for missing severed heads, no longer must I watch over my shoulder to see if I am going to get caught taking oggie for a walk about. Being brought back to the garrison in my own handcuffs just to hear lord Zilla tell the locals that they caught me now they have to keep me. How will it go on with out him and his wise cracks, how do we deal with times like these? How do we go on with life and not feel like we are amiss something important? Nothing ever stays the same, AND nothing ever prepares you for the injustice that life deals out to us on day-to-day basics. This is the cruelest thing that could ever happen, Bob was not a drinking man he was not an irresponsible man. How could this be? How could life that was so precious be taken away from a loving wife and loyal friends? For no known reason. I call foul, I call Injustice, and I call for the safe arrival of our friend Lord Bob Zilla in the halls of Valhalla where he shall rule forever. For His beautiful wife Becky I can only say what has been said with the added note. I pray that soon you can find peace, that soon you can find comfort. My words are weak compared to what it feels like to bury a husband, friend and lover. The crap that, as time moves on it will hurt less and less, perhaps for some this is true, but for me it was not, I don't think that will be the case for you. Time does not heal all wounds that is a lie, as you will find soon enough. The pain only dulls a bit. But dear lady and friend of mine know that if you need, surely one of us out here would be able to fill that need regardless of what that need would be . Do not hesitate to ask for it. As each of us greave with you this is the hardest longest road yet to be traveled and with my breath I pray that each step is easier than the last one. Anger over this injustice that has been done to you is natural process. And none can deny you that. Please forgive me that I cannot make it to your side at this moment. But know that you are in my prayers in my heart and on my mind and that I pray that your are kept safe as well. Enfolded in the arms of the angels. Peace come to you quickly!! Forever in the Lady Becky's (Scarlet's) service Queen Pandemonium

Dear BobZilla,

There are no words to express my feelings accurately. You were a great man and loved by so many. You brought so much joy to so many people. I know that you blessed Becky's life in a way that she never imagined possible. In your 24 year friendship with Curt, you touched him deeply. I only knew you for a year and a half, but I have the utmost respect for you, and I appreciate everything you've done for Curt. You were a great friend to us both. You will be remembered by us both forever and with the fondest of memories. When you looked at me at Excal this year and told me I was now part of your family, that meant so much, and that memory if forever burned in my mind. Dear BobZilla,

I sent you an email the night I found out of your passing old friend. I know as soon as they get broadband up there you'll get it. From the moment I met you in the leather factory, you took me under your wing and made me feel more like a brother than a friend. I'll miss your spontaneous calls at all hours to tell me of some special find or event happening. If it weren't for you, I'd never found the swordmaking class and in turn found my new love of blacksmithing. Damn you sure know how to spoil a surprise...I was making you a dagger for christmas. My heart aches, my eyes tear, but I know that you're amongst friends now. I'm sure you and Dad will be making some projects or another up there. Between you both you'll have the pearly gates looking more like the entrance to a castle. Becky, call me if you need me, not matter the time. We'll always be here for you. Bob, I'll miss our faire days, I'll miss working Excalibur with you. I'll miss you old friend more than words can describe. Godspeed, we'll meet again.

Dear BobZilla,

Hey Bob, Well we just returned from your funeral. I think you would have been pleased. The turnout of course was awesome, as you knew it would have to be. So many of your friends and family gathered together would have been a great chance for you to prank around. Go easy on those around you now, remember they are not as used to you as we are, you might make them blow milk out of thier nose if you are not careful. Your good friend Curt gave a great memorial speech. I think he must know you well, as he certainly captured your essence in a great manner. He made all of us laugh and smile at a time when we were all feeling your loss terribly. I wish we had more time for him to tell us all about other adventures you had, but that will have to wait for another day. Perhaps by the fireside at camp, or on the walls of the keep, or of course lifting a mead at the Sea Devil. We will certainly do this in your memory for all the years to come. I also thought you should know that I made the drive from Houston with some of your other friends too. 3rd level Kris, Cyric, and Stephenie came as well. We had a long time during the drive to talk about our memories of you and how each of us had met you. I remember making that very first suit of leather armour for you. One day, during the construction phase, I had placed the cuirass over my head and slide right through it. I thought it was pretty funny how I could pull my arms in through the holes and turn around inside it. I guess my point of that is, you were a giant of a man indeed, but it would take titan a thousand lifetimes to fill your shoes. Your heart was as big as a mountain and that is what we will all really remember and miss most of all. I also enjoyed seeing your karate photos and memorabilia. We joked about how on that cold New Years Eve night when we were sparring in the back yard, the big cat Bobzilla would come at you like a wall of force and you had better get the heck out of the way or be run over. Fast you were then, but faster you are now. I hope to see you bringing your special light into everyones lives that knew you so you may live on through us all. I for one know I will miss you, but never forget you. Until we meet again.

Dear BobZilla,

My Most Precious Brother, Somehow I have fallen on to this website and I'm learning about your adult life. Sounds just like your life when we were kids. You made being your little sister such an adventure. I am so blessed that you were my big brother. You kept me safe and everyday was full of fun, excitement and I always knew you loved me. You could make the best toys out of anything. Remember going to all those thrift stores on Saturday and then you'd take me fishing on Sundays and everytime I got hung-up you got me untangled. Remember everytime I was going to get in trouble, you would protect me take the blame. Most of the time I didn't even realize what you were doing, I just knew you got in trouble an awful lot. I just want you know how sorry I am that we were unable to fulfill your wishes with your cremation, but please know I tried. There were so many legal issues and I know we have all learned from this. I got you the best casket and was thinking about your headstone. How does "Bob in God's Armor" sound? I just know that Grandma & Grandpa must be so happy right now to have you with them. Did Grandma make you your green beans and mashed potatoes? I don't know how I'm going to take care of Mother without you. Please check in on her for me when you have time. Thanks for the puppy! He's so cute! Your spirit is all around me constantly and I'm so grateful. You think you're being so sneaky, but I know you're here and promise me you always will be. I Love YOU the most!

Dear BobZilla,

Oh, my dear sweet man... the love of my life. How do I possibly begin to tell you how dear you are to me? You were the meaning in my life. We promised to love each other till the end. Each time that I looked into your eyes, I saw what I meant to you and how much you meant to me. You were such a beautiful man. We were so much in tune with each other's lives that we often knew what the other was thinking without so much as saying a word. Your touch or tickle would tell me. Oh, where does my broken heart go from here?????? Every Valentine's day was such a blast for us. It was like an Easter Egg hunt in February. You would place numerous cards and gifts all over the house and office for me to find. I recall how on this last valentine's day I almost broke my ankle falling from a chair looking for something that you hid on top of the refrigerator at the office. You had so much fun doing that. Each time that I left and came back to my desk, there would be another surprise for me. I could never keep up with you. You were so much fun and a joy to love....Each night I lie in our bed and I hold you so close in my dreams. You could send me into a tail-spin with your cute, sweet smile, and that cute little wiggle of your nose. You gave me the very best...You gave me so much love. I was never afraid when you were around. You took such care of me and my needs, protecting me at all times.....I will forever miss your daily intercom call to my desk which was only 20 feet away, so that you could sing your "fluffy wuffy doodle bug love song" to me. You knew just the thing to brighten my day, and you made me laugh every time you sang to me. You were so cute. When we first met, I did not know what to think of this "bigger than life man".... but I took a chance and my heart learned to dance........what a great life we had...I miss you so very much my sweet baby doll...Whenever you would go on a "walk-about at Excalibur without me, you would come back to the Garrison with a cloak from Becca's Magic or some sweet gesture to show your love for me. I will cherish those wonderful moments forever. You knew just how to work me.......When the evening comes and it's time to call it a day, It's so very hard for me to settle in. We turned off the lights in the house together, made sure the doors were locked, fed the cats, dogs, and lizards, then watched TV in bed till we fell asleep. And all the while our feet touching each others as our security that the other one was still there. I miss your feet......When I was cold at night you told me to get closer and cuddle up... that you were my heating blanket. Oh, how my heart aches for you that I can hardly bear to go on....Please help me to get through this, my love. I am so lonely without you...I'll try to smile and go on, but I miss you so much. Our love was so devine. Never a day went by without saying "I love you". Only 1 1/2 hours before your departure from this world, we said "I love you" and we'll see each other when you get home later. Dear BobZilla,

Bob... I can recall still, very vividly too, the first time that I laid eyes upon you. Twas Excalibur, and my friends within my own Clan decided it would be grand fun to have me arrested. I was charged, as you so elegantly put it, with "Making the Clan late to the Opening of faire". We were only late because I had to lace up so many bodices, however far be it for me to HELP ANY LADYFOLK AGAIN on that note (laughs). Well sir... you furrowed your brow, placing those handcuffs on me, only to find my wrists were too large for the cuffs to fit. We laughed as I watched you standing there, hands on your hips, inspecting me as I used the tip of my wife's Sgain Dubn (Scottish Dagger) to widdle a new hole into the leather cuffs that would allow them to be fastened to my wrists. After cuffing me successfully, you looked me in the eyes and said, "Your assistance with the law will not free ye, however, that will forever be known as the Angus Hole. Now come on with ya." You only laughed harder as my woman wailed upon my kilted rear quarter with that flogging bunny. You placed a large hand upon my sholder, saying "Angus, it could be worse - it could've been a flogging badger." We became fast friends, you and I... standing around the fire within the camp of the Celtic Rogues, late into the night, exchanging jokes, and playing songs for you on my guitar, have been my fondest memories of Excalibur. And without you there, my good friend, the ale will seem more bitter and less sweet, and the smiles will only remind me of how grand your own was. I read what others have written before me, and I feel their loss, as it is mine. To his beloved wife, I am at your service ma'am, should you need from the Celtic Rogues at all, please let us know. God be with you, Bob... you will never be forgotten, not by me.

Dear BobZilla,

Bob I'am not going to say that you touched my life or inspired me to do this of that. You've done that enough to so many people. I will say however that you were a true friend, a great leader, and an even greater mentor to me. In the time we've known each other there was never a time that it was ever wasted. Through your teachings, infinite wisdom, and gentile good humor I will be a better person, and carry out my life as you knew I would. From your various attacks of chilli sauce, to your martial arts skills, you were one in a million, and you WILL be missed. Via Con Dios.

Bob wow it seems I really truely missed out on a great man. Its so sad that all the years I looked for you..you were in fact only hours away..how odd that you actaully drove past where i lived soo many times. I had wished for so long to be able to walk up to you and say..Hi Dad. I have gotten to know your family bit by bit. I have had the honor of chatting with Becky a few times and even your friend Mr. Doyle. Im waiting for my chance to make it to Yale. I hope the headstone was ok. Rest in Peace and know that when God calls me home we will finally have the chance to sit as Father and Daughter and finally get to know each other. Till then Dad...Be Safe in Gods hands.

Dear BobZilla,

Bob "BOBZILLA" Bartlett. In all capitals, for the man I knew not as just a man big in stature, but also a man with an enormous heart, an infectious/pleasing smile, a huge/welcoming embrace, a most loved personality and always a whimsical joke. I can still hear you saying, "You sexy man." in that low voice of yours. You always put a smile on my face when I saw you and even now as I write a brief synopsis on how you affected my life and the memories you so fondly blessed my life with yesterday, today and tomorrow. I still recall the first day I met you at TRF in front of Randolph's chainmail shop many years ago with fairy skulls attached to your chest. You handed me a couple and I still have them, even after all these years. Bobzilla, you will always reside in my heart as the bigger than life comedian, pro football player, protector, friend and most of all, as one of my Brothers in Chaos. I remember the many times we spent together with you and Becky at TRF, Excalibur and Richard's ranch – laughing, sharing stories, sharing a good meal and experiencing your "HOT" sauce you were so proud of during the New Year's 1999 Bash. It was a great time to be had by all and we still display the picture of all of us on the fallen tree that welcomed the end of millennium to start anew. I still carry the flogger I purchased from you at Excalibur and let me say your flogger has been enjoyed…I mean has flogged numerous females. :) With every flogging, the recipient is informed of the great man who made the flogger. Bobzilla, I will always carry a part of you at my side at TRF or other medieval faires in physical form, but spiritually, I will carry your smile in my head and my heart everyday. Thank you so much for sharing your precious time with me on this earth and blessing my life. Avalon misses you. May you rest well and know peace in the Valley of the Kings. I look forward to seeing you and the rest of my Brothers again. My love and blessings to you and your family. As Always, Your Brother In Arms, Bear of Avalon

My tears won't stop flowing..... I'll forever love you Bob....My big sweet gentle man..... I ADORE YOU!!!!!

Dear BobZilla,

I will sincerely miss you, very few people made me laugh.. but I did enjoy the beers I drank and good times I had in your presence. I will remember you and other fallen comrades each time, I step foot through the gates (this is the most somber time for me; the entrance to faire) and is the most fitting to pay my respects to fallen brothers while participating in something we both love so dearly.

Dear BobZilla,

Dear BobZilla,

I love you, Daddy. My heart breaks everyday knowing that I will never have another chance to speak to you, to tell you how much I have missed you and will continue to for the rest of my life.. how much I love and have loved you. I only wish that would have had just a little more time here so that you could meet your brand-new grand daughter, and my amazing fiancee. Please rest in peace..
Signed Rae.
