Phillip Henry Wagner was born in Kutter, Saratov Prov., Russia . Phillip, my grandfather, immigrated from Russia at the age of 15.

HE SACRIFICE GENERATION
All of us who are descended from Phillip Wagner owe a debt of gratitude to him and his parents for their sacrifice. Their generation is called "The Sacrifice Generation." They are the ones who left home to settle in a new land, never to feel fully part of their adopted country and never to see “The Old Country” again. Their children, (Howard, Arlyn & Dale) who were born in the new country, started to feel ownership and belongingness here, but even their generation was difficult. We, Phillip’s grandchildren, who never met him, haven’t had to face those particular hardships. We will have to wait until we meet Phillip in heaven to say, “Thank you, Granddad. I am grateful that you had the courage to choose a new life in the USA, learn a new language and endure the discomforts of working harder than most people in order to achieve the American Dream. Your sacrifice was worth it for me.”
