William A. Heisler, one of the oldest Compositors in this city, died at his home, 1312 South 6th Street, Sunday, 12th instant. The deceased was born in Long Swamp Township, Berks County, Pa. in 1829. He served his apprenticeship on the Minersville Journal, eventually becoming foreman. In 1866, he went to Denver as Foreman of the Rocky Mountain News. Coming to Philadelphia, he entered the employ of William F. Murphy Sons and remained in that firm for the last 29 years. He was the last of his family. Funeral Services were held on November 15, by Rev. M. L. Tate of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church and the interment was in Fernwood Cemetery. J. Frank Redfern, Frank Barclay, Louis T. McGuire and J. Lasher Wood were the pall-bearers and the undertaker J. Wesley Bowen, 1018 South Second street.
