Around 1868, Frances Elizabeth, now a widow with two small children, married David Blalock Webb, a widower with five children. At this time they were living in Mississippi, having all his resources converted in Confederate money, all were worthless. After hearing rumors and remarkable stories of cotton growing in Texas, David and Frances Elizabeth moved their family from the Tom Bigbee River in Mississippi to Texas in 1872.
They settled in the Pleasant Grove Community some 10 miles east of Crockett.
