My father in law,he had been fighting lung cancer for about 1 1/2 years.He is dearly missed by all his family and friends.
BESSEMER CITY ~ George Bryan Guthrie Sr., 74, passed away on June 1, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1938, in Gaston County, son of the late William Elzie Guthrie and Melba Bumgardner Guthie.
George was a member of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation of NC.He loved deer,elk and turkey hunting and also enjoyed fishing.George was a machinist and was co-owner of Guthrie Machine Shop of Gastonia and was later employed at Gaston College as a security guard.George's passion was hand-crafting custom-made knives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: sister, Becky Guthrie Hoyle; brother,Darrell Guthrie;and a niece, Cynthia Guthrie
