Doris is a graduate of Muncie Central High School and later attended God's Bible School in Cincinnati, OH. On July 2, 1953 she married the love of her life, Vernal Grubbs, in Muncie at the Southside Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Grubbs had been a Unit Secretary and Monitor Technician for Ball Memorial Hospital having served 28 years prior to her disability. She is a member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school for many years, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by one son, Michael "Mike" Grubbs (wife-Amy), Muncie; three daughters, Deborah Ann Spaulding (husband-Mike), Indianapolis, Sandra Denise Wyman, Texas, and Jasmine Spaulding, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; one sister, Beulah Mae Anderson, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Vernal Grubbs; her parents; two sisters, Ruby Kennedy and Thelma Garton; and one brother-in-law, Gordon Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012, 11 a.m. at the Parson Mortuary with Rev. Frank Garton officiating. Burial will follow at the Salem Cemetery in Modoc, IN. Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 10 a.m. until service time.
