MISS NELLIE CHAPPELL
Nellie Chappell, daughter of Alfred and Sarah Gill Chappell, was born April 25, 1882 and passed away April 1, 1961 at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 6 days.
She spent her girlhood on a farm in Taylor County and after the death of her mother, she moved to Corning where she lived until her death. While living on the farm, she spent much of her time driving a team of horsed to different places to give music lessons. After moving to Corning, she worked in various business places in town. The last five years of her life was spent at the Krauth Nursing Home.
Two sisters preceded her in death, Mabel Kempton and Rhoda Bolier. Those surviving are one brother, Frank Chappell of Scio, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Mere Chappell; a brother-in-law, Ed Bolier; one nephew and six nieces.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Iveyville Methodist Church in her youth. Nellie Chappell was known to all as “Aunt Nell.” Everyone remembers her for her kindness and helpfulness.
Services were held Wednesday, April 3, 1961 at 2:30 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Rev. Virgil Patterson officiating. Music was by Mrs. Brown Oerlock and Mrs. Joe Cook. Pall bearers were Robert Russell, Boyd Russell, Donald Brokaw, Darwin Ogburn, Stanley Brokaw, and Myron Kempton. Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
