Mrs. Cora Mardis Bright, 70, daughter of the late Thomas E. Mardis and Alice Miskel Mardis, was born in Taylor County, May 25, 1889. She died at her home in the Pleasant Hill Community at 10 o'clock Sunday, August 2 after an extended illness. She professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bright united in marriage to Will Bright, August 29, 1909 and to this union five sons and five daughters were born. Surviving are Linus, David and Howard, Mrs. Dennis Colvin, Mrs. Arthur Goff, Miss Margaret Bright, all of Taylor County and Mrs. James Mardis of Bloomington, Illinois. Besides her husband and children, she leaves two brothers and one sister, Lemuel Mardis, Turner Mardis, both of this county, and Mrs. Flora Nalley of Shelbyville, Indiana; 27 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and many other relatives. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 4 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial in the Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Obie Raffety, Alvin Farmer, S. V. Kessler, Thomas Hudson, D. W. Crawley and Ira England.
