Mrs. Kathryn A. "Kathy" Carter, age 66, passed away Monday evening, May 14, 2012. She was born June 1, 1945 in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY to Robert and Dorothy (Kelly) Smith. Kathy earned her B.A. in Education at Western Michigan University and worked as a teacher for many years for the Muskegon Public School System before retiring. She enjoyed painting in water color and making personal greeting cards for family and friends.
On June 24, 1967 she married Edwin W. "Ned" Carter in Hastings, MI and he survives her along with two sons, Matthew Carter of Colorado, Glenn (Kim) Carter of Ypsilanti, MI; three grandchildren, Sam, Charlie, and Will Carter; two sisters-in-law, Connie Smith, Joyce (Tom) Voyt; two brothers-in-law, David and Thomas Carter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gerald Smith.
SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565 with Dr. James Harwood officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice or the of Michigan will be appreciated.
