Death of Miss Bessie Kiehle

The death of Miss Bessie Kiehle at her home in this village Sunday night, after an afternoon with relatives and friends, saddened the community. She had just returned from Mrs. Julius Reed's, and upon entering the house was fatally stricken and died before a doctor could reach her. Her father, who was attending a meeting of the Christian Endeavor society at his church, found upon his arrival home that she had passed away but a few minutes after he had been notified of her illness. The services were held from the house Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Scovil of Cortland officiating. Miss Kiehle was born in Minneapolis, where her father was pastor of the Franklin Presbyterian church, but much of her time had been spent in Livonia even before the family came here to make a permanent home. An invalid from early life, she had obtained a most liberal education at private schools, and to this had been added a rich fund of knowledge, outside the covers of any book. Miss Kiehle was a lady of beautiful character, loved by all who had the privilege of an intimate acquaintance. Animated by the thoughts of Christmas, she had already made all of her plans to bring happiness to others. There is nothing that can be said by any one that will make the grief of the home any lighter; but her life and example will be a precious memory.
