Alice was married twice, first to John W. LOGAN (1879) and later to James FITZSIMMONDS (1894)She had one child, a son. by Logan. Alice was the 3rd of ten children born to Samuel SIMMONS (1820-1903 and the former Mary Ann GREEN (1834-1926)

The late Gordon D. Perrine wrote of her: "Great aunt Al lived to be 103 years of age, 80 of those years without a right leg. It was severed just above the knee in her late teens, early 20's in a hay mow accident. She had a wooden leg but walked with a crutch tucked under her right arm while at home. She did her chores, keeping house, cooking for herself and when we visited her in Lincoln, Nebraska, I swear you could eat off the floor it was so clean. She had no outside help taking care of her right up to the very end. What a woman!"
