Berdyne Boyd, 75, of McComb, died Oct. 29, 1994, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. Graveside services with military honors were at 2 p.m. today in Enon Cemetery in Walthall County, with the Rev. Fred Morris officiating. Catchings Funeral Home of McComb was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Boyd was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Lawrence County. He was the son of William Stephen "Fiddler Bill" Boyd and Dora O'Quin Boyd. He was a disabled U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. After being captured on Wake Island, he was a Japanese prisoner of war for three years and seven months. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by one son, Darryl Boyd of Baytown, Texas; two daughters, Deborah Patzold of Cleveland, Texas, and Rhonda Bennett of Dallas, Texas; one niece, Mildred Brister of McComb; three sisters, Lucette Alexander of McComb, Vera Willoughby of Columbia and Ruby Ballard of Monticello; special friends, George and Carolyn Cutrer of McComb; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
