On April 17, 1823 this David married Ellender Copher in Boone County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Jesse Copher and Elizabeth "Betsey" Boone Copher. Betsey was the daughter of George W Boone, Sr. and Nancy Ann Linville, making her a cousin of the famous Daniel Boone. David's wife Ellender was named for her mother's sister.
Children identified as being David and Ellender's were Andrew Jackson, Daniel Newton, Almarinda "Allie" (Berry Wilhite), Thomas Fielding, Sarah, George W, David R, Franklin, and possibly Nestor. Some sources say Franklin is the Columbus Franklin McQuitty of Jackson County, but on his death certificate the mother's name is wrong, so this needs clarified. There also may have been an Elizabeth (Thomas Long) and a Mary Elizabeth, but again, the connections to David and Ellender need to be clarified.
The young two year old Nester is seen on the 1850 census, when Andrew Jackson McQuitty and his wife and children lived with his parents, and the family is listed by age, not relationship, so he could prove to have been Andrew's, not David's, as James D did. He is not seen with either family afterward, so must have died.
