Mr. Willis was a carpenter by trade, and came to Au Sable Forks from St. Lawrence county. His first work after coming to this village was the building of the main altar which for years stood in old Holy Name church, and graces the new church, and at the foot of which his body lay while the solemn high mass of requiem for the repose of his soul was being celebrated during his funeral last Friday, with Rev. Father O'Brien, the pastor, as celebrant, Rev. Father Kitts of Saranac Lake, a former pastor, as deacon, and Rev. Father Gainor, assistant pastor of Holy Name church as subdeacon.
During the greater part of the time he resided in Au Sable Forks he was in the employ of the J. & J. Rogers Company as carpenter and millwright and was ever faithful to every trust imposed upon him.
He is survived by five sons, John, with whom he had made his home for the past seven years, Thomas, William, Frank and James, all of whom are residents of Au Sable Forks.
