Esther (Hardt) Reilly of Dorrance, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at Russell Regional Hospital having reached the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 18 days.

She was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Sugar City, CO, the daughter of Philip and Anna (Heinitz) Hardt. She grew up on a farm south of Bunker Hill and attended school in Bunker Hill and Dorrance.

She was married to Lewis A. Reilly on Aug. 12, 1940, in the Lutheran Parsonage in Wilson. They moved to a farm near Dorrance and lived there until moving into the town of Dorrance in 1967. Lewis preceded her in death in June 1995.

Esther worked for the Home State Bank, Russell, for more than 34 years starting in 1954.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Dorrance, and she was co-chairman of Mary's Circle. She also belonged to the Red Hat Ladies, Wilson; a member of EHU and was a secretary for Dorrance Homemakers FCE and American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She was active in the Dorrance Historical Society, including helping to lead the registration of the Reiff Building on the National Register of Historic Places.

Surviving family include a son, Lionel Reilly and wife Jane, of Elkhorn, NE; a sister, Irene Coffeen, Russell, KS; and four grandchildren: L.L., Bradley, Deidra Quedensley, and Heather Cooprider; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lewis; and three sisters.

Services July 19, 2007 at First Lutheran Church, Dorrance, KS with Pastor Jim Wagner officiating. Burial in Dorrance City Cemetery. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell, in charge.
