Born February 21, 1949, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Joseph Daniel Martin Sr. and Betty (Taylor) Martin.
Mr. Martin was the third generation owner-operator of Martin Oil Company, a member of River Hills Baptist Church, avid traveler and camper, auto collector and mechanic. He was also a Wofford College graduate and former member of the Army National Guard.
Survivors include his loving wife, Claudia C. Martin; son, Bryan Zimmerman and Lisa Cox of Duncan, SC; brother, Robert Martin and wife Kathryn of Forest City, NC; nephews, Kyle Martin and Chris Martin, both of Spartanburg; and sister-in-law, Barbara H. Martin of Chester, SC.
He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Daniel Martin Jr.
Visitation was 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM Friday, June 1, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services followed at 1:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kent Smith. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
