On June 7, 1926, he was married to Elda J. Alwine, who survives. Also surviving are one son (Nelson H., Jr.), 3 sisters (Nellie - Mrs. Henry Cable, Linnie - Mrs. Ralph Croyle, and Anna - Mrs. Charles Shetler), and 2 brothers (Morgan A. and Moses D.). He was a member of the Kaufman Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Apr. 8, in charge of Stanley R. Freed and Harry Shetler; interment in the Stahl Cemetery.
