Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 12, for J.P. Anderson, 74, long-time farmer of Elk Township, who passed away Saturday night at his home in Storm Lake, 819 Iowa. Although Mr. Anderson had been in failing health for about two years, his death came rather suddenly to friends and relatives.
Private family services were held at 1:15 from Koll Funeral Home, followed by rites at the Elk Baptist Church north of Alta, with Rev. L.H. Smith in charge. Interment was in the Elk Township Cemetery.
Music was by Mrs. Ervin Laurson and Miss Janeen Johnson, accompanied by Marguerite Puffet. Bearers were Howard Anderson, Ernest Johnson, Nathan Anderson, Leonard Anderson, Clifford Benson and Reen Johnson.
Born in Kankakee, Ill., on July 8, 1879, Mr. Anderson farmed for many years in Elk Township, retiring and moving to Storm Lake about 10 years ago.
His survivors are his wife, Mary; four daughters, Hattie, Mrs. Earl Bovee, Webb; Elvira, Mrs. A.M. Ward, Mission, Texas; Audrey, Mrs. Don White, Storm Lake; and Murial, Mrs. Martin Rickard, Sioux City; one son, Everett J. Anderson, Alta; one sister, Mrs. Nels Benson, Spencer; one brother, Jeaf Anderson, Alta; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A brother, Ed Anderson, passed away Dec. 12, last at this home, 407 Otsego in Storm Lake.
