OTHO - Diane Clay passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 65, on May 26th, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She inspired so many with her positive attitude and ability to make everyone that knew her feel special.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 1:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Nathan Peitsch officiating. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery. Home.

Diane was born June 17th, 1946 in Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin & Lucille Stevens. She attended Kingsley Pierson High School until she met her one true love.

Diane married her childhood sweetheart and best friend Verlin Clay on August 18th, 1962. After leaving the Sioux City area, they made their home in Otho, Iowa and together they raised three children.

Diane was a "mother & grandma" to many. She was a friend to everyone. Her compassion and love of life brought so much joy and inspiration to those around her. She was always ready to help, and had a way of making each person she met feel special.

Diane dedicated her life to her family. She was always their biggest cheerleader. She adored her grandkids and could always be found at one of their games or programs with a smile that was meant only for them. Diane was known for her sense of humor and loved to play little practical jokes on those around her. Diane enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, making her "famous" buttermilk cookies with her grandkids, and finding the laughter in each new day.

Diane is survived by her husband and best friend Verlin; son, Todd Clay; daughters Robin Cobb; Lori (Jim) Finnegan ; grandchildren, Tim (Angel) Scott, Greg (Tawney) Cobb, Sean (Heather & Annalise) Cobb, Lincoln Clay, and Katie & Miranda Finnegan all of Fort Dodge; brother Ronnie (Darlys) Stevens, Washta, Iowa; Brother-in-law Vernon (Mary) Clay of Fort Dodge; sister-in-laws's Crystal (Dale) Douglas of Kirksville, MO and Karen (Don) Schoonover of Springfield, MO and many beloved nieces and nephews and her special "fur babies" Danny & Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Lucille Stevens; brother, Tom Stevens; sister Donna VanMaasdam; and infant sister Dorthy Stevens.
