New House Community - Mrs. Doris Beam Carr DePriest,97, passed into her eternal life on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Hospice House of Rutherford County.

Born in Cleveland County on March 22, 1915 to George and Ada Hunt Beam, she was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands Wallace Odie Carr and Charles Wesley DePriest; two brothers Yan Crowder Beam and Thamer Martin Beam; three sisters Eliza Fuchia Powell, Burnett Norris Covington, Marlan Grayson Cone and granddaughter, Diana "Dede" Carr Ballard.

She graduated high school at Polkville in 1933, Lees–McRae College in 1936 and Radford College where she received her B.S. in Education in 1956.

She taught for 32 years in Danville and Fairfax, Virginia, retiring in 1980 and returning to Cleveland County in 1994.

She lived her life in service to her family and every community in which she lived.

She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church and the Susan Lattimore Sunday School Class.

She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and working in her yard. She was a kind, loving and generous daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend and her family will miss her very much.

Burial: Polkville Baptist Church.
