Arlo Hoppe, 87, of Columubs, Nebraska, died August 15, 2007, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Ellefson officiating.
Arlo "Dutch" Hoppe was born November, 3, 1919, in rural Colfax County, Nebraska, to Henry and Clara (Helbel) Hoppe. He attended District #44 School in Richland and graduated from Schuyler High School, Schuyler, Nebraska.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946. He married Marilyn Krumland on September 9, 1950. Dutch was a longtime Schuyler area farmer and livestock producer. He was active throughtout his life in many peace and social justice activities. Dutch was one of the cofounders of Rural Nebraskans for Peace, which later became Nebraskans for Peace. He was a 2004 recipient of the "Peacemaking Award" from Nebraskans for Peace.
Dutch is survived by; sons, James H. Hoppe of Lincoln, NE, Thomas Hoppe of Milwaukee, WI, Richard Hoppe of Richland, NE; sister, Helen Roth of Columbus NE.
Dutch was preceded in death by; his wife Marilyn, parents, Henry and Clara Hoppe, brothers; Louis, Fred and Roy; two sisters, Mildred and Marion.
