Born in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, Iowa, he was a very religious and dependable man, who helped to pioneer Aurora where he raised his family. He married Celestia Ann Harward (1858-1911), the daughter of Thomas Harward and Sabrina Cutis, November 29, 1878 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Funeral Held at Aurora Friday for D. H. Cloward

Funeral services for Daniel H. Cloward, 85, who died at the home of his son Mark Cloward of Salina, May 10, were held Friday in the Aurora ward chapel.


Speakers were C. C. Christensen, Mrs. Willard Lewis, Edwin Sorensen and Bishop Levi Sorensen. Musical numbers were furnished by Mrs. J. E. Day and members of the choir.Interment was in the Aurora cemetery.


Mr. Cloward was born at Council Bluffs, Iowa, February 11, 1848 He came to Utah in the year 1859 and lived at Springville. On November 29, 1878, He married Celesta A. Harward, who preceded him in death 22 years. One year after their marriage they moved to Aurora, where they located permanently. Mr. Cloward was active in church and town work he served in the bishopric for many years. He was a member of the school board and held other responsible offices.


He was the father of five children. Two sons, D. M. Cloward and Mark Cloward survive, together with nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
