This rock flower of the Chiricahua National Monument the "Wonderland of Rocks" is where Allen made his finally home. He is buried in a private property neighborhood cemetery a mile from the main gate, behind a hill. I had wanted to add a "Duck on a Rock" photo, but it was to much of a hike for my health at this time to take my own photo.

I dedicate this photo to Allen Madison Green(e) my Great Great Grandfather. In memory of his passage through the "City of Rocks" Almo, Idaho while traveling the California trail and in memory of his son my Great Grandfather who died on Christmas Eve "1924", a homesteader.
Allen & Vienna passed thru this city on their way to Brighton, Sacramento California. My Great Grandfather was born in 1854 while Allen and Vienna was in California.
Allen was the son of Charles Lamone Green(e)and Mary Emmoliza Ellis. Who stayed in Utah after coming west. His parents helped build the "Old Mud Fort". His mother is buried in a unmarked grave near the Fort.
Allen was born in Cherry Valley, Otsego, New York.
Allen lived at Fort Wayne, Allen, IN during most of 1830s and early 1840s.
He was a lumberman who worked in the Pine Canyon, of Chiricahua Mountains, Arizona prior to his passing.
His name is listed on several historical documents from his time period. One being The "Tabernacle Post Office" Petition
for the Saints of Kanesville, Iowa when he was 18 years of age. Page 170

I find it interesting that Chiricahua National Monument is located near where he was buried ;) Which appears to be kind of a Arizona City of Rocks.

This Santa Rock is on private land admist the City of Rocks, Almo, Idaho. The middle rock is one of the historical twin sisters on the California Trail and the third rock is a unknown sister also on private land. There is a great distance between these rocks it is the angle and the lens that give these rocks the perception of being close.

On Christmas Eve, 1861, and continuing into 1862, a series of storms lasting 45 days struck California. The storms caused severe flooding, turning the Sacramento Valley into an inland sea. Bankrupting the state. My Great Grandfather would of been about 7 years old. I believe these storm played a key role in Allen moveing his family to Arizona. As did the talk of more Gold and silver. Another account is he moved his family in 1878 to Tombstone and then settled near the sawmill in Pinery Canyon, Chiricahua Mountains, where he contracted cutting logs for the sawmill (1879).
