Miss Sarah Timmons was born in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, August 14, 1837, and passed away at her home in Strang, Neb., October 16, 1916, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 2 days. She was married to Henry Rakestraw, March 9, 1854, and to this union thirteen children were born. Two children, Claudia and Nancy have preceded her to that home where parting will be no more. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband and eleven children, forty-four grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The children are: Mellie Spelde, Clyde and Roy of Ohiowa, Oliver of Belvidere, Drusilla Archer of Hebron, Matilda Timmons, of Geneva, Clarence of Bladen, Ernest A. of Deadwood, S. D., Martha Tonkinson, John E. and William of Strang, all of whom were in attendance at her last illness and death, and all that loving hands could do was done to relieve her suffering in her last moments.

She united with the United Brethren Church more than sixty years ago in Indiana, and has been a faithful and devoted member ever since. The deceased leaves many, many friends who will miss her.

The funeral sermon was delivered at the United Brethren Church by Rev. Mr. Carter, of York. A large assemblage of friends was present to pay respect to the departed. Six of the sons acted as pallbearers. They were Oliver, William, John, Clarence, Roy and Ernest. The body was laid to rest in the Harmony Cemetery.
