It is said that his father may have been a Circuit Rider. Family member has bible dated 1795 that he used.

In rootsweb.com located in the Springer-L Archive Saturday, October 31, 1998; my cousin Alice Springer gg granddaughter to George Washington Springer, brother to my gg grandfather Andrew Jackson Springer, both buried at the Graysville Cememtery, Catoosa County, GA. along with their sister Mary M Springer Smith, as well as for Andrews wife and children. And brother O.J. Springer is buried about a mile and 1/2 from them at the New Liberty Cemetery in Ringgold, Catoosa, GA

Alice Springer stated that both parents Jonathan and Nancy Springer to her gg grandfather George W. Springer are buried at the Graysville Cemetery, GA.

Dates for Jonathan Springer she listed: b 1792 d 1877 for Nancy ____ b 1821 d 1895

Children she had listed were:

George Washington Springer - gg grandfather
Andrew Jefferson Springer
Obed Springer
Polly Springer

Stated that Nancy was the second wife to Jonathan Springer. It has been proven in July of 2012 with Pension papers of Jonathan that my cousin Alice Springer was in fact correct of the year my ggg grandfather and her ggg grandfather Jonathan Springer died in 1877.

On their daughter; Mary M Springer Smith (Polly) death certificate it states that both Jonathan and wife Nancy were born in TN.

In the 1850 census mother of Nancy Cook Patience Cook; was born in North Carolina. However, both daughters place of birth not listed. At the time they were living in Roane county, part of, Roane, Tennessee, United States. Possibility the reason given for birth place as North Carolina for Nancy Cook because that is birth place of her mother Patience Cook.

Have found no real proof that Jonathan Springer was born in Georgia except for the 1860 census. Lots of research done for that state and nothing found. I have found in all of his children's census records that Jonathan their father was born in Florida and mother Nancy in North Carolina. Again no real proof. And on daughter Mary M Springer Smith death certificate say's both her parents Jonathan Springer and Nancy P Cook both born in TN.

Have found that census record keeping is very in- consistent in locating several of my families lineage.

At this time I am going place the birth place Tennessee for both Jonathan and Nancy Cook Springer. Since Tennessee is listed as the birth place of both parents. As for this is proof (fact) on the death certificate of their daughter; Mary M Springer Smith (Polly).

Tennessee, is also were all their children were born and as well as marriage place for both Jonathan Springer and Nancy Cook.

Information found in articles in two books Early Hamilton Settlers and Hamilton County Pioneers, Jonathan Springer was a long time neighbor and a friend to the Carper family members. It is said that Jonathan Springer was one of those among buried at the Old Foster Carper Farm in a addition written by John Wilson. However, this was in 1998 and Jonathan Springer died June 28, 1877 near Tyner, TN and the bodies all moved to (Greenwood Cemetery)??? on or before 1930. No record of Jonathan Springer at Greenwood Cemetery and only proof is from cousin Alice Springer that she was a gg grand daughter says he and second wife Nancy are buried at Graysville Cemetery Catoosa County. His body may have been moved to that location being that all his children from his second marriage were still living at the time and it may have been at there request their father be moved to Graysville Cemetery. Yes, he wrote a deed freeing him from debt. and helped make a wooden coffin for mother to Mr. Carper but know evidence that Jonathan Springer was buried at the Old Carper Farm. My surprise is why were any of these bodies moved and not a private little cemetery with gate around them and leave as is. Apparently these people wanted to be buried on the land they once owned and thought that their wished would be granted.
