Newtown, Conn, April 18.
• George Owen Redington, a New York Lawyer for more than half a century, died of bronchial pneumonia yesterday in Danbury Hospital. His age was 86.
• Mr. Redington was a former assistant corporation counsel of New York during the La Guardia administration and had been counsel to the Transit Commission in the twenties. He retired in 1945.
• He started his law career under Charles Evan Hughes, later the Chief Justice of the United States, by joining the law firm of Carter, Hughes & Dwight in 1895 immediately after his graduation from the Yale University Law School.
• A veteran of the Spanish-American War, Mr. Redington had been active for many years in National Guard affairs in New York. He was a member of the Yale Club of New York.
• Surviving are two sons, Robert J. of Washington and George O. Jr. of San Mateo, Calif.; two grandsons and two brothers.

On Oct. 26, 1915 at Baltimore City, MD, George m. Allison Janney Miller, dau. of Samuel Bevan (aka S. Bevan) Miller, and Elizabeth Morris Steinmetz, b. Jan. 20, 1891 at Baltimore City. She d. at San Jose, CA June 28, 1969. The reason why Allison is not mentioned in the above obituary is that at George's death they were divorced. They had two children:

• i. George Owen Redington, Jr., b. Oct. 25, 1917 at New York City, NY; d. Mar. 8, 1982 at Saratoga, CA. He likely married and had two children, but the identity of his wife and children are currently unknown to the memorialist. He was a graduate of Yale University at New Haven, Conn.

• ii. Robert J. Redington, b. Mar. 25, 1919 at New York City, NY, a graduate of Yale University at New Haven, Conn, d. Mar. 8, 1997 at Guilford, Conn. From 1948 to after 1962 he was a U.S. Foreign Service Officer of the U.S. State Department stationed at various missions including Paraguay, Bolivia, Switzerland, Poland, and Canada. At age 65, on Nov. 27, 1984 at Salisbury, Conn., he m. Anne Sasowski, who survived him. Whether this was a first or subsequent marriage is presently unknown to the memorialist.
