John's sister Emily Ruth was adopted by their maternal aunt Semantha Washburn and her husband, Rev. Septimius Robinson of Morrisville, VT. A correspondent provided the writer with two separate obituary notices regarding John C.O. Redington's death, one at Syracuse the day after his death, the other later at Ogdensburg, NY. The Syracuse notice was selected due to its greater detail. The Ogdensburg notice mentions he was initially engaged in the music business at Ogdensburg in partnership with C.H.
