Brawner died Sunday, June 19, at his residence in Shawnee.
He was born July 14, 1902, in South Haven, Kansas to Frank and Francis (Anderson) Brawner. After graduation from high school he attended and graduated from Phillips University in Enid. He worked for C.R. Anthony Co. for 42 years before retiring. He was active in various civic clubs including the Lions Club, Optimist Club, Masons and Shrine Club.
He Married Fern Albert and she preceded him in death in May 1972. He later married June Ramsey On Jan. 2, 1973. He was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Alonza Brawner Jr. on May 17, 1978.
Survivors include, his wife, June Brawner, of the home; two daughters, Martha Baird, Houston, and Carol Ray, of Shawnee; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Keith and Elizabeth Ramsey, of Shawnee, eight grandchildren, Michael Baird, Houston, Andrew Coffman, Scott Ramsey, Jason Ray, James Ray, Christi Grant, Jaci, Grant, and Sunni Grant, all of Shawnee.
