Mr. Simpson was born Feb. 23, 1901, in Walnut township, a son of Elias and Hannah Johnson Simpson. His early life was spent in that township.
He was married in December, 1926, to Hattie Cornelison. For many years he was employed as a road maintenance man by Madison county, until his retirement about two years ago. His home in recent years had been on a farm in Monroe township.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Betty Lou; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Wight and Mrs. Guy Handley; and a brother, Charles Simpson, all of Winterset.
