Maxie Rene Poland, born near Manning in 1922, married Lou Ilgenfritz and they had two children, Karen and Edward. Maxie Rene graduated from TSCW and worked as a RN at Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Maxie died of multipie sclerosis in 1983.

Services for Maxie Rene Poland Ilgenfritz, 61, of Huntington, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hargraves officiating.

Interment will follow at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Ilgenfritz died Wednesday morning in a Houston hospital.

She was born in Manning, Texas, resided in Huntington for two years and had resided in Baltimore since 1944.

She was a nurse for the Baltimore County Education System for 12 years and was a member of the Maryland state and Baltimore County Nurses Association. Mrs. Ilgenfritz's nursing experience included serving at Johns-Hopkins Hospital during Heart Research Program of Drs. Blalock and Taussig. She was a graduate of Texas Women's University and Johns-Hopkins School of Nursing and did graduate work at Towson State College.

Mrs. Ilgenfritz was a member of the Catonsville, Md. United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Lee Cook of Baltimore; son Milton Edward Ilgenfritz of College Park, Md.; four sisters, Gladys Dell Poland of Huntington and Merlene Cowart of Huntington, Marjorie McCullough of Freeport and Mildred Lowery of Lufkin; two brothers, Robert L. Poland, Sr. Of Lufkin and Joe W. Poland of Huntington; and a grandson, Cameron Cook of Baltimore.

Honorary pallbearers will be John A. Waits, Robert L. Poland, Jr., Charles S. Poland, Daniel Wheeler, Kyle Syler, Gary Bridges, Robert M. McCullough, William D. Cowart, Robert A. Cowart, Jack Thornton and James Coulter.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
