Charles E. Hayward, at 76, of Gladwin, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the MidMichigan Medical Center–Gladwin, MI. He was born March 3, 1932 in Gladwin County the son of Leno and Fern (Spohn) Hayward.

On August 27, 1983 he married Katherine in Gladwin. He worked for the City of Gladwin for 35 years and was the sexton for Ridge, McClure, and Skeels cemeteries.

He is survived by his wife Katherine; sons, Vern Hayward of Gladwin, Glen (Darlene) Hayward of Jackson, Jim (Terry) Hayward of Florida, Robert Hayward of Oklahoma, Howard Hayward of Florida, and Tom (Linda) Hayward of Gladwin; daughters, Ellen (Rick) Strand of Shepherd, Waneeta Seager of Cadillac and Rose (Bill) McKinney of Gladwin; sister-in-law, Rena Hayward of Gladwin; and sisters Irene Ross of Beaverton, Joann (Tom) Malenfant of Gladwin and Donna Cook of Gladwin. He was preceded by death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 1p.m. at the Sisson Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Hortop officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Ridge Cemetery.
