Erza Houghton Curtis first marriage was on the 18th Dec 1846 in Mount Pisgah, Iowa to Lucinda Carter, who was born 14th Jan 1831 in Oxford, Maine. She died on 26 Jan 1904 in Aurora and was the daughter of Dominicus Carter and Lydia Smith. They have two children born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, then came to Utah in 1851. They settled in Provo where they lived until 1875 when Ezra and his sons moved to Aurora [Willow Bend].
