Leslie Forest Flippen was a son of Lafayette Smith Flippen and Emma (Stewart) Flippen, and one of nine children of the couple. Leslie was married to Jessie Veronica Finley. They lived all their married lives in Little Rock, AR. Leslie worked for the railroad. He and Jessie are both buried in Calvary Cemetery. Leslie was preceded in death by his wife. Leslie and Jessie had four children: Marie, James 'Buddy', Nell and Bettie Jean.

Leslie's siblings were: Henry F, Bessie Creola, Hugh B, Bertha, William Jennings Bryan, Lafayette Stewart, Elven Norman and Ivan Lafayette.
