James A. Grubaugh

James A. Grubaugh, son of J. W. and Alice Grubaugh, ws born November 16, 1908, at Galesburg and died August 15, 1929 at Moline.

He moved from Galesburg to Hampton, Iowa, with his parents in 1911 where the family lived until 1917 when thy moved to Silvis. Shortly after coming to Silvis his mother took up residence in Moline and James lived with her. He attended high school in Moline and was a member of the Moline Boy Scouts as a boy. He had not, as yet, taken up any line of work, because of his physical condition.

As a young boy he suffered injuries to his right leg which had caused him a great deal of trouble ever since the accident and finally made amputation of the leg necessary. The operation was performed, August 5, at the City Hospital in Moline. Complications set in, which he was not able to combat and he died in the hospital.

The funeral was held Sunday, August 18, 1929. Interment was at the Sheffield Cemetery.

Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Will Timmerman, and his brothers, John and Rex, of Moline; and brother, Chester, of Manlius; a sister, Maud, of Des Moines, Iowa; his father, J. W. Grubaugh, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Grubaugh, of Buda.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Grubaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Grubaugh and their families of Aurora; Mr. and Mrs. George Grubaugh and family, of Ottawa; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Grubaugh and family, of Manlius; J. W. Grubaugh, Mr. and Mrs. John Grubaugh, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Madson, of Buda. A large number of friends from Buda and vicinity attended the funeral.
