William Clay Eggleston was married twice. He was about 20 years old at the time of his first marriage 27 June 1889 to Eliza Jane "Mike" Eggleston. They had 6 children before Eliza Jane died about 1900-1901. According to census records they were Henry C born May 1890, William B born April 1894, Rosa M born Sept 1896, and Betty Sue born Dec 1898. Another unknown child had died before the 1900 census was taken. After the 1900 census was taken another daughter, Lucy Allen Eggleston, was born 22 Aug 1900.

After Eliza Jane died William married Martha "Mattie" Dillon Minter. William and Mattie had 5 known children.
