Bettie Jean Ellenburg passed away August 16, 2008 at home in Greenwood, South Carolina. She was born December 23, 1927 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Leslie F. and Jessie Veronica Flippen. Bettie had three siblings, two sisters and a brother.

Bettie was predeceased by her husband, Grady Frank Ellenburg, her parents, her brother James 'Buddy' Flippen and a sister, Nell Binz. She was survived by her sister, Marie K. McDonald (Jack)of Colorado Springs, Colorado (Marie has since passed in 2011), two daughters from her first marriage (Banton), two step-daughters, and several grandchildren.

Bettie, originally from Little Rock, had relocated to Hampton, Virginia with her first husband (that marriage ended in divorce). She lived there until the early 1970's when she married Grady Frank Ellenburg (Retired Lt Colonel USAF), in his home State of South Carolina. Bettie and 'Frank' built a home in Greenwood, SC where they lived the rest of their lives.

Bettie worked Federal Civil Service for many years and was retired from Langely AFB, Virginia. She was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Bettie is buried in the Parklawn Cemetery Mausoleum in Hampton, Virginia. She was buried under her maiden name (Flippen).
