David Leroy Shultz, age 61 of Olathe, KS passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 due to complications from a bone marrow transplant. Funeral services will be Monday, May 21, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Porter Funeral Home 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, KS. Friends May call Sunday, May 20, from 2-4:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial Will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Kansas City, KS. David was born on September 7, 1950 in Kansas City, KS to William and Jacquelene Shultz who currently live in Olathe. David retired from Delco Batteries in Olathe after 32 years. David had many interests to occupy his time in retirement such as: spending time with his loving wife, playing computer/video games, bowling, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and watching and attending NASCAR events. David served in the US Navy from 1969 to 1973 aboard the USS Ranger before being honorably discharged from active duty. Survivors are His wife, Nancy Shultz of the home; his daughters, Paula Hernandez and her spouse Tiffany Stewart- Rouse and Michelle Hernandez-Heldenbrand and spouse, Shannan Heldenbrand; and 5 grandchildren, Xavier Hernandez- Johnson, Aaron Hernandez, Andru Walling, Kayla Walling, and Sydnee Walling. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and cousin Steve Booth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
