Elizabeth Anstis Coats was born June 23, 1832 to Martha Conway (Warren) and Alfred Alonzo Coats. She joined an older brother Thomas at home. Her mother died shortly after her birth. Alonzo, her father, remarried in March of 1834, Emily Aikman of Lafayette County, Missouri. Elizabeth had nine half-siblings; Edward, John, Martha, Ballard, Emma, Laura, Sarah, Alonzo and Conet Coats. October of 1850 she was living with her grandparents William Brisco and Elizabeth (Canida) Warren. At the age of 18 she married Thomas Bird Alexander, son of Rev. Reuben & Leah (Lawless) Alexander, in Howard County, Missouri. Thomas and Elizabeth had seven children; Alfred H, William Reuben, Martha Susan, Melvina Francis, Thomas O, Alonzo and Eldridge C. Alexander. They settled in Linn County, Missouri and were neighbors of the Phillips, Gooch and Morris Families. Elizabeth died at the age of 63 and was buried at Morris Chapel. --- Claudia, 3x great-granddaughter
