Thomas Bird Alexander was born on March 24, 1833 in Howard County, Missouri to Rev. Reuben & Leah (Lawless) Alexander. At the age of 17, he married Elizabeth A. Coats, daughter of Alfred Alonzo & Martha Conway (Warren) Coats, on December 25, 1850 in Howard County, Missouri. Thomas was a farmer. He and Elizabeth had seven children; Alfred H, William Reuben, Martha Susan, Melvina Francis, Thomas O, Alonzo N and Eldridge C. Alexander. They settled in Linn County, Missouri and were neighbors of the Phillips, Gooch and Morris Families. He died at the age of 62 and was buried at Morris Chapel. Elizabeth, his widow, died the following year. --- Claudia, 3x great-granddaughter
