Douglas Kent Balis, 27, of Downey, husband of Jamie Petersen Balis, passed away on 2 March 2010, at the Portneuf Medical Center, following a brief illness. 'Kent' was born 24 June 1982 in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of Roy Douglas and Lana Salvesen Balis. He grew up in Downey and was a graduate of Marsh Valley High School, class of 2000. Shortley after graduating, he began employment with his father at "Doug's Repair and Towing." Kent married his longtime sweetheart, Jamie Petersen, on 30 June 2007. He and Jamie loved being together, sharing time outdoors and especiallly loved snowmobiling, of which Kent was an expert. His friends were a very important part of his life. His wife and two boys, Mickie and Roy, were the love of his life and meant everything to him. Kent loved Fridays, his dog, J.J., and especially working side by side with his dad. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Kent was someone who would do anything for anyone. He is survied by his wife, Jamie and two sons, Mickie and Roy, all of Downey; his parents Doug and Lana of Downey; two sisters, Aurelia (Craig) Norris of Downey, Lyndsey (Joston) Cypriann of Jerome, Idaho; grandparents, Fred and Shirley Balis of Downey, Shirley Salvesen of Downey, father and mother-in-law, Don and Donna Petersen of Robin, Idaho; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and his special friend, J.J. A celebration of Kent's life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Downey Senior Citizens Center, where friends and family are invited to come as you are and share memories of Kent.
