Phillip, the elder twin to Donald George Becker, was the sixth of eight children born to Clyde McKee Becker and Bessie Amelia Gray Becker. Phillip was raised initially at Gilman, Kansas. The family relocated to Chickasha, Oklahoma about 1928 where his father was a farmer. Phillip was employed by Model Cleaners at Chickasha in 1942. Phillip married to Betty Ruth Knight on 31 August 1946 at Chickasha where they first made their home. Phillip earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geology at the University of Oklahoma in 1949 and his career as a geologist had the family moving often from place to place. The family relocated to Norman, Oklahoma about 1949 and to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma about 1951 and permanently to Midland, Texas in 1953 where Phillip was a manager for Keer-McGee Oil Industries.
