Funeral services for Leota M. Heller age 82 of Pilger, NE will be at the United Methodist Church in Pilger, NE with interment in the Pilger Cemetery.
Leota passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.
Leota Margaret Roe was born March 6, 1929 at Pilger, NE to Charles and Algia (Koehler) Roe. Leota was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Pilger, NE. She attended Pilger Public Schools and graduated from Pilger High School in 1946. Leota worked for Scherer Mother Co. and at the Stanton Co. A.A.A. office. On July 3, 1947, she was united in marriage to Marvin W. Heller at Pilger, NE. The couple moved to Denver, CO in September of 1948, where she worked for the State of Colorado until moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1953. While in Albuquerque, Leota worked at Davis Brothers, Inc, a wholesale drug company, and later as a secretary at Kirkland Air Force Base and also for the Army Corps of Engineers. In 1969, the couple returned to Pilger and purchased Ralph's IGA. They operated Heller's IGA until retiring in 1991.
Leota was a member of the United Methodist Church in Pilger and served as church secretary, was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3602 of Stanton, served on the Pilger Library Board, and was active at the Pilger Senior Center, serving on the Civic Improvement Club and playing Bridge.
Survivors include-Daughter- Janice and husband Gene Oswald of Pilger, NE and family Ryan Oswald Jennifer Oswald and daughter Alyssa Kandace and Cody Grave Jacqueline Oswald
Son- Michael and wife Ubol (Da) Heller of Las Vegas, NV and family Matthew and Rachel Heller and children-Dylan & Madison Christina and Jason Wolf
Leota was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Marvin on January 28, 2007, two sisters- Elizabeth Koopmann and Marjorie Riber, two brothers-Elton and Edgar Roe, and a brother in infancy.
