Margaret Jane Wells was the oldest of 10 children born to John Elijah Wells and Katherine Barbara Dowdy Wells. She was born in Alabama; however, by the time she was 3 or 4 years old, her family had moved to Texas and settled in Houston County. About 1865 she married Zebulon Oliver. They had seven children:
Joseph B. Oliver born in 1867
Mary Catherine Oliver born in 1869
Zelulon Oliver,Jr. born about 1872
George Green Oliver born in 1874
John the Baptist Oliver born in 1875
Frances Elizabeth Oliver born in 1878
Margarette Jane Oliver born in 1883
Margaret Oliver died just a few months after the birth of her last child in 1883.
