From the Frederick Town Herald of Mar 13, 1824:
"DIED, at three o'clock, on Sunday morning, Miss ELIZABETH HEDGES of this city, an interesting young lady in the 16th year of her age. In this truly afflicting dispensation, her widowed mother, relict of Mr. Andrew Hedges, is bereaved of an only child, the chief source of all her remaining earthly consolations, to shose care and instructions, the whole of her time, attention and affections were bestowed. Could the stern purposes of a mysterious Providence have been propitiated, the innocence and loveliness of the deceased would have reserved her for the blessing of an over-fond mother. But alas! it has been otherwise decreed, to which frail mortals must bow with humble submission."
