Elizabeth Roten Mead was the daughter of Polly Roten and Mr. Andrew Akers. (Polly Roten had been a Bond Servant of Mr. Akers. . .never his wife).

First husband was William E. McCoy who did not return from the Civil War. He passed away in a field hospital in Nashville, Tennessee due to pneumonia. There were no children from the first marriage.
