Martha Brittain Barnett, 93, of Heritage Lodge in Hendersonville, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation Center
Born in Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Ida Brittain Barnett. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Norman Barnett.
She received degrees from the University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina. Before retiring, she was employed by the Department of Education of the states of South Carolina and North Carolina. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by her niece, Nina Lee "Patty" Gillespie of Hickory.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Monday, July 12, 2010 at Mills River Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Reverend Randall Boggs will officiate.
