John Sheldon Sr. actually died in Hartford about 1733/4, and was supposedly buried in the Old Center Churchyard on Main Street, After his first wife's death in 1704, he left Deerfield and settled in Hartford, CT where he remarried in 1708 and had several more children. He never returned to Deerfield.

His second wife was Elizabeth Lee Pratt Sheldon, married Apr 20,1708.
